Ruck and roll at summer camp

- By ESTHER HAYDEN

LEINSTER players Adam Byrne and Josh van der Flier took part in a Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby Summer Camp at Greystones RFC last week.

The camp was a massive success with a total of 125 children, a mix of boys and girls in attendance.

Ben Armstrong with Leinster Rugby said they were delighted with how well the camp went.

‘It was a really great week with a total of 125 children taking part. Obviously the weather helped as well as it was gorgeous and sunny throughout the week. Leinster players Adam Byrne and Josh van der Flier gave the participants some great tips and spent a lot of time meeting with them, signing autographs and standing in for selfies.

‘ This year we had about ten girls taking part in the camp. It was one of the first years in a while that most of the summer camps throughout the province have sold out. There’s a real surge of interest in rugby now again because of how well Leinster are doing.

‘Success breeds success and you can really see that in the summer camps.’

Ben said this is about the tenth time that Leinster rugby has held a camp in Greystones Rugby Club saying there is great interest in rugby from the children.

‘ This year we had children aged between 6 years and 12 years taking part’, said Ben.
