Bray-French relationship is strengthened
THE anniversary of the twinning of Bray with Bègles in France was celebrated last Friday night with a special dinner.
The celebratory dinner which was held in Bray Golf Club was very well attended and marked the 24th anniversary of the twinning.
Anne Longmore of the Bray Bègles Twinning Association said it had been a very good night.
‘It was a great night. We had 22 people over from Bègles including the Mayor and it was the official dinner of the Fraternite de Bègles. Every second year we host a group of people from Bègles to mark the special occasion of the twinning.
‘Next year then a delegation from Bray will go to Bègles.
‘Last Friday night Cllr Pat Vance and Cllr Brendan Thornhill attended the function as did Liam Burke and David Forde, officials with Wicklow County Council.
‘Chairperson of the Bray Bègles Twinning Association, Judy Coolahan, thanked everyone for attended and said it had been a great night.’
Bègles is located in the heart of the Aquitaine region and some of the worlds most renowned vineyards are within a short distance of the town.
