Holyhead group forges links with Greystones

-

Keith Thomas, Holyhead Mayor, and a contingent from Welsh town were in Greystones last weekend.

They travelled over to finalise details for the Greystones group which will travel to Holyhead the end of the month.

The Greystones Group will visit the annual Holyhead Festival plus local points of interest in Holyhead itself.

Both trips are part of the official Greystones Holyhead Twinning Programme.

The Holyhead group included the Mayor, Lady Mayoress and their son, Marc, Sue Williams from Sea Cadets, Dewi Thomas, Holyhead Councillors Alan Williams and Hwyel Williams and Richard Burnell from the Holyhead Maritime Museum.

They visited Greystones Sailing Club and were guests of Ross McParland at the Whale Theatre.

They were very taken by the quality of the theatre, its layout and hospitality.

They were particularly impressed with To Shorten the Road, the Irish themed production on Saturday night.

They also met up with local groups to begin plans for sharing events and interests.

Mayor Thomas was taken on a tour of Greystones environs and was pleased to see Greystones is thriving.

‘I look forward to a year of continuing our mutual interests whereby we can help each other.

Holyhead and Greystones have a lot in common that we can use to build a better future for us all.’
