CHORAL FESTIVAL HITS ALL THE RIGHT NOTES
BRAY was alive with the song of music on Friday night during the International Choral Festival.
The festival which took place at the Mermaid Arts Centre featured performances from Cheile Community Choir directed by Tony Norton as well as performances from guest choirs.
One of the guest choirs who performed first year were the Sarzanae Concentus Choir led by musical director Antonio Vivaldi. They travelled to Bray from Sarzana in Northern Italy where the Cheile Choir were hosted in 2017 at their choral festival.
This year’s festival showcased and celebrated the immense passionate and unique sounds of community choirs and semi- professional choirs who all have their own unique sound.
The choirs performed a broad repertoire drawn from Irish traditional music, world music, musical theatre, secular music, contemporary pop music, folk music plus classical repertoire.
The choirs who performed were Cheile Community Choir from Bray, the Wicklow Community Choir and Sarzanae Concentus Choir.
