-

Last Saturday the members of Plucks Golf Society travelled to Glasson Hotel and Country Club in Westmeath to play in Paddy Byrne Jnr Captain’s Day and a great day it turned out to be. Mick Holly emerged a popular winner with a great score of 36 points and he is pictured here with the Captain Paddy receiving his prize at the Captains Dinner in the Creggan Hotel in Athlone that evening. Cian Bermingham came second with 33 points while Jimmy Messett was third, also 33 points but beaten on countback.

2019 Captain Greg O’Donnell finally got his hands on a prize as he won Category One, Ray Lyster won Category two and Robert Moore won Category three. Kevin Molloy won the Front Nine Prize while John Lyster won the Back Nine.

Mick Holly also won the Nearest the Pin while Trevor Carr hit the longest Drive and by the end of the night, it was that big that the drive finished up in Galway.

Well done to the committee for organising a great day and night out and well done, Mick.

The Quarter Finals of the match play were also drawn and some interesting battles will take place before the next outing in McCreddin GC Mick Holly will face Paddy Byrne Snr, Trevor Carr v Eddie Byrne, Tom Byrne v John Lyster and Cian Bermingham will square up against Jimmy Messitt.
