Remembering Bobby golf classic

On Friday, August 24, the Bobby Messett Memorial golf classic will take place. This will be a relaxed four-member Scramble and is at a cost of €240 per team which includes Green fees, Prizes and a meal after in Plucks with music on the night. All Tee Times are now fully booked up but if you cannot make it, a tee box sponsor would be greatly appreciated at €100 and please contact Liam Finnerty to arrange same at 086 6074821. Charlesland Golf Club have been most generous with green fees, Plucks have once again been excellent in their support and of course, everyone has been most generous to date.

There was also a soccer match that took place last Friday between Garden County over-35s and a selection of Glens former greats. The Glens had over two teams to select from and it was a tough job for Trevor Carr and Colm Griffiths but they somehow managed it. Players had to pay €20 to play and a monster auction and raffle took place afterwards. So many people were really generous in both the donation and support of the prizes on offer and it was greatly appreciated. Special mention must go Alan Prendergast, who put the fundraiser together along with Jamie Quiney. Well done to all.
