Visitors come from afar to enjoy Carnew show
There was a hive of activity on Saturday afternoon at Umigar for the 72nd Carnew and District Annual Agricultural Show.
PRO Dorothea Lazenby said the show went very well and the weather was just ideal. Amongst the visitors there were people from overseas, including a number of Canadians who said they were very impressed with the show.
Dorothea said they took a break two years ago from the show and the committee are just overwhelmed at the support Carnew has been given.
‘It was very well supported this year,’ said Dorothea. ‘We are just so grateful.’
The day included a variety of classes for ponies, horses, poultry, sheep and much more. ‘ This year our number of sheep was back a bit, but that was because of the bad winter we had this year,’ added Dorothea.
The pony classes were extremely high this year, along with the horse classes. ‘ The poultry section was very good as well this year,’ said Dorothea. Many of the visitors said they enjoyed the ever-so-popular dog show.
The children had a fun afternoon as there were a lot of activities organised to keep them all entertained. They had a bouncy castle, face-painting, and a disco. The after-show party included live music from Take 5 and DJ Pat Flemming, who kept the party going until early hours of the morning. The committee would like to thank everyone for their support.
