Cara gets the big chop

-

NEWCASTLE Country Market celebrates its 48th anniversary this year and marked the occasion by holding a fundraising coffee morning for Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Six-year-old Arklow girl Cara Moore also did her bit by having her hair cut and donating her shorn locks to the Rapunzel Foundation.

The Newcastle County Market is part of Country Markets Ltd and all members have undertaken to raise funds for Temple Street this year.

‘ Things went very well and we were very happy with the support we received on Saturday,’ said Margaret Murphy of Newcastle Country Market. ‘We raised around €800. The market is very popular and we always get very good local support and have very loyal customers’.

Claire Holt of Poppy’s of Newcastle had the job of lobbing off Cara’s luscious locks. The hair Cara donated will be used to make wigs to improve the lives of children living with hair loss.
