Hit film Redoubtable to be screened

-

MERMAID Arts Centre will screen Redoubtable on Monday, July 30 at 8 p.m.

Set in the late 1960s French director Jean-Luc Godard has established himself as a revolutionary filmmaker thanks to work such as Breathless.

He is in love with actress Anne Wiazemsky, who is in his latest film, La Chinoise, a film that sees Godard move in even more radical directions.

As his relationship with Anne intensifies, so does the political situation around them. This is a playful, probing biopic of one of the most significant filmmakers in history. It is a fascinating look at what happens when politics, romance, ego and - most importantly - cinema collide.

The film was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or in the main competition section at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

It features Louis Garrel as Jean-Luc Godard and Stacy Martin as Anne Wiazemsky.

Berenice Bejo takes on the role of Michele Rosier.

Tickets cost €8/€6.50 and are available at box office on 01-2724030 or online at www.mermaidartscentre.ie.
