Local artists are selected to perform at Electric Picnic
TWO local acts have made the top-10 of ‘Play the Picnic’, and get to perform at Electric Picnic this September.
They are electronic artist Aerbeatz from Shankill, and The Felonies, who hail from Wicklow Town, Newtown and Bray.
RTÉ 2FM reamed up with the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation for the competition, offering 10 of the country’s best up-and-coming music acts a chance to play a live set at the picnic. They invited acts to send in a track, and whittled those down to a short list of 30.
The public then cast their votes, and it was Happy Alone who took first place and a spot on the larger stage.
The remaining nine also can’t wait to play the festival.
Other winners include Electric Shore, KUBB, The Elation, Motions, Fynch, Exiles and Liers.
Purple Ice from Greystones was also in the short list but didn’t secure a slot this time.
The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation provide nursing care and support for children with severe neurological development issues, as well as offering some respite to the parents and families.
