Changes to Dublin Bus routes discussed at public meeting

-

A MEETING was held in Greystones last week to discuss plans to change Dublin Bus routes.

The meeting was held last Thursday evening in the Whale Theatre and was organised by Minister Simon Harris, Cllr Derek Mitchell and Alice O’Donnell.

Around 100 people attended and there was a lively discussion.

‘ The changes result in more buses and better connections for most people in the area, especially those in Charlesland, though a few will have a lesser service,’ said Cllr Derek Mitchell.

‘It will also provide a service connecting Kilcoole and Newtown via Newcastle which had been needed for a while.’

Cllr Mitchell said that further meetings will be held in Newcastle and Kilcoole on August 7 and 8.

‘The National Transport Authority has now said they will hold a Public meeting in Greystones in September and the deadline for submissions has been extended to September 28,’ he said.

‘I feel that the plan is missing an orbital bus along the M50 to connect to the LUAS at Carrickmines and Red Cow, as many work in that direction and we need to reduce cars on the N11. We urged people to make a submission on what they want online.’
