Locals give Rose Lorna a send-off

- By DEBORAH COLEMAN

WICKLOW Rose Lorna Mallick is looking forward to setting off for Tralee and hosted a charity fundraiser in her home village of Tinahely on Saturday evening.

There was a great turnout for a summer barbecue and monster raffle at O’Connor’s Bar and Lorna was supported by last year’s Wicklow Rose Abby McKenna and the current Laois Rose Gráinne Hogan on the night.

The raffle was a great success and yielded a whopping €2,000 for Pieta House.

The event also raised funds for Lorna’s Tralee adventure and she was delighted to announce that she has reached her target ahead of the trip to represent the Garden County on the international stage.

Lorna has extended thanks to the generous local sponsors, of which there were over 45, who donated to the fund and sponsored raffle prizes.

She looks forward to setting off for nationwide Rose Tour on August 13 ahead of the Rose of Tralee the following week.
