Glenealy rule the roost in new offering

-

WICKLOW Camogie Board’s new 2018 initiative offering seven-aside camogie opportunities in the space between league and championship has proved to be a hit with adult clubs.

Eight teams from Avondale, Kilcoole, Carnew, Éire Óg Greystones, Knockananna, Glenealy, Annacurra and Kiltegan took up the challenge and provided great entertainment over the three weeks of the tournament.

Over three Tuesdays in July all teams played each other with the finals on Tuesday last.

Glenealy scooped top spot with a nail biting victory against Knockananna in the Cup final: 1-9 to 1-6 having prevailed against Avondale in the semi-final 2-8 to 1-3.

Kiltegan outscored Carnew to take home the Shield - their first trophy since winning the Junior championship last year.

Congratulations to the winners and everybody who competed.
