WICKLOW ROVERS

Our senior ladies ‘A’ team defeated Donnycarney 4-1 last week. Niamh O’Brien put Rovers in front and things got better when Amanda Duffy made it 2-0. Sophie Byrne nabbed Rovers third before the away side pulled one back. Niamh O’Brien assured Rovers all three points when she got her second and the teams fourth to claim a 4-1 victory.

The As met their club team mates, the ‘B’ team in the cup on Wednesday night. The A’s ran out 5-0 winners with two goals from Niamh O’Brien and one a piece from Amanda Duffy, Leanne Sullivan and Amy O’Neill. The game was played in great spirit between the two teams.

The club are currently seeking a manager for our senior men’s ‘A’ team who will be playing in the Leinster Senior Saturday section for the 2018/19season. Anyone interested in the above position should contact any committee member for an application form or by email to jimmy.nolan09@hotmail.com Application forms can also be downloaded from the club website at www.wicklowrovers.com.

Wicklow Rovers AFC promote soccer for schoolboys/girls, youths and seniors men and ladies in the community, our club is growing all the time and any assistance with the help of running the club would be very much appreciated.

Over recent times we have been trying to set up a fundraising committee that would work in conjunction with the executive committee.

This subcommittee would be responsible with the running of the fundraising and the suggesting of ways of fundraising for the club.

This is a very important part of the progression of the club for the future.

We are inviting any person that would be interested in helping out on this subcommittee, it’s your club and if you would like it to progress why not come on board and help out.

If fundraising isn’t your thing there is plenty of other ways to help out.

Don’t just assume someone else will come forward, come along and help the club progress, all help no matter how big or small would be very much appreciated.

If interested you can contact any committee members, private message the club Facebook page or approach any club member, thank you.

BRAY BOWLS

Pride of place this week goes to our Vets 3 team who clinched the league title last week with a hard-earned draw away to Greystones, Congrats to Ger Minogue and Eoghain Brady both of whom led the team at various stages throughout the season.

This team went one better than last year when they finished runners up. See you all at the BLI Dinner lads.

The Division 4 team maintained their good form taking all points on offer at home to Leinster last Monday night.

Wednesday last saw the ladies play Dun Laoghaire at home and the visitors proved too strong taking home 6 points back up the N11.

On Wednesday evening Division 6 had a good 3/1 win at home to Westmanstown to hold onto second position.

Thursday had all 3 vets’ teams in action with Vets 3 mentioned already as having won their league.

Vets 1 defeated CYM 4/0 to maintain their hold on top spot with 4 games to go. Vets 2 completed their programme with a 3.5/0.5 win at home to Clontarf. They finished in third position. Saturday saw Division 1 travel to Crumlin where torrential rain made the rink very difficult.

Crumlin were in fine form on the day and had a comprehensive win. Division 2 were at home to Westmanstown and they took the spoils with a 5/2 victory. Both teams were in action again on Sunday in their respective cup semi-finals and unfortunately neither will be gracing Cup Final Day as they lost to Leinster and CYM respectively. There is no bowling at all next week as the league is taking a break for the BLI Championship Finals and the Bank Holiday weekend. The action resumes on the 7th August. Congrats to Christy McEvoy on winning the club lotto.
