Blessing of the Graves

The annual blessing of the graves in Kilmacanogue will take place on Sunday, August 19, at 3 p.m. As always, it will begin in the Old Graveyard and then up to the new cemetery. Please make every effort to tidy up a grave that might not have someone to look after it in close proximity of your own loved ones.

Horse Show

Despite the heavy rain that fell overnight and early Saturday morning, all roads led to Monastry for the annual Kilmacanogue Horse Show. While attendance and entries were down on previous years, it was still a very successful show and lots of local charities will benefit from the proceeds of this and will be presented in the coming weeks. Well done to everyone involved, especially the hard working and dedicated committee. More updates on the show next week.

Bobby Messett golf classic

Now that August is here, the Bobby Messett Memorial golf classic is drawing closer and will take place on Friday the 24th in Charlesland Golf Club. This will be a relaxed 4-member Scramble and is at a cost of €240 per team which includes Green fees, Prizes and a meal after in Plucks with music on the night.

All Tee Times are now fully booked up but if you cannot make it, a Tee Box Sponsor would be greatly appreciated at €100 and please contact Liam Fin- nerty to arrange same at 086 6074821. Charlesland Golf Club have been most generous with Green fees, Plucks have once again been excellent in their support and of course, everyone has been most generous to date.

GAA action

It’s a second Round Intermediate Championship match up next for Mark Kings troops. It will take place this Friday (third) at Pearse Park in Arklow with a throw in time of 7-45 and the team face tough opposition in Coolkenno. After a first round defeat to favourites Tinahely, Kilmacanogue need a win and it is hoped that a large crowd of supporters will travel to Arklow to cheer them on. Good luck lads.

Cúl Camp

Well August is upon us and that means also, so is a great week for the Kilmac juniors. This year’s GAA Cúl Camp in Kilmacanogue GAA Club will take place from Monday, August 13, to Friday, August 17. Unfortunately, this year there will be no registration taken on the day, all children must be booked in online before midday on Friday, August 10. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Golf Society

The next outing for the Plucks Golf Society will take place on Saturday, August 11, at McCreddin Golf Club with a Tee Off times between 10-50 to 11-40. This outing will be for Paddy ‘Bounty’ Byrne’s presidents and if you want to play, please get your name down on the timesheet in Plucks this weekend and leave money in the box as it’s strongly rumoured this could be Paddy’s last one and great to say you played in it.
