CAR BOOT SALES
Join fellow shoppers for car boot day on Sunday, August 5, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come early to find your bargains on practically anything from household items to garden additions, and even vintage or antique treasures. Vans must be booked in. Please pre-book indoor spaces early. COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT
The Brockagh Resource Centre wishes to recruit a part-time maintenance person/car park attendant. FITNESS DANCE
Just pop in on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre to dance your socks off with Adam and the class in cardio exercise dancing, dropping those extra calories. You do not need to be a good dancer or very fit, dance at your own pace and enjoy the music. You can contact Adam at 083 3057949 for information.
EVENING YOGA
Viva’s yoga classes (beginners/intermediate) are now finished for the summer holidays but she will be back to us at the Brockagh Centre on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. on September 11. You can contact Viva at 086 3409629 for more information.
WALKING GROUP
On Monday mornings weekly at 10 a.m. join the Laragh walking group at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around Glendalough area for approximately one hour.
CITIZEN’S INFORMATION
The Citizen’s Information Centre at the Brockagh Resource Centre is open for information relating to your rights and entitlements from 10 a.m. till midday on the first and third Tuesday of each month. No appointment is necessary for this free and confidential service.
CELEBRATION OF HARPS
The Bray Harp Ensemble in association with Bre Comhaltas Ceoltoiri will present new work composed by Rachel Duffy and the musicians of the ensemble at the Brockagh Resource Centre on August 24. Tickets are free, donations welcome, booking essential, go to eventbrite.com to book.
The composition will celebrate the past and present harpists of Ireland and especially the first Synod of Harpists from Ireland, England and Wales, who gathered in the 11th century in Glendalough. There will also be special guest performers. Refreshments and reception held at 7.30 p.m. before the concert at 8 p.m. This event is funded by the Creative Ireland Programme.
PHOTO COMPETITION
Wicklow Uplands Council invites you to send us photos which depict aspects of Wicklow’s diverse Cultural Heritage. It might be of the stunning landscape, a town or village scene, people at work or play in the landscape, a building, an archaeological site or monument, an activity associated with Wicklow etc.
Essentially your ‘connection’ with Co Wicklow. Entrants are encouraged to provide a short caption (60 words max) which provides insight into the story behind the image. Go to wicklowuplands.ie/get-involved/ wicklow-connections-photo-competition/to view rules of the competition. Entries to the competition will be selected to form an exhibition on the Cultural Heritage Theme ‘Wicklow Connections’ which will be launched at the Brockagh Resource Centre for National Heritage Week 2018 (heritageweek.ie).
WELLBEING WORKSHOP
Taking care of your Emotional Health and Well Being: This workshop will introduce you to the basic emotional needs which we all have, including the need for security, connection to others, attention. Understanding these needs and how to meet them in balance results in emotional well-being and improved mental health. So come along to this fun and relaxed 10-week course and take back charge of your life. Starting on September 19, 10 p.m. to 12.30 p.m.
