Niamh is nominated for a ‘best parenting blog’ in Boots awards

- By MARY FOGARTY

BRAY blogger and writer Niamh O’Reilly has been nominated in the Boots Maternity & Infant Awards in the Best Parenting Blogger category for her popular parenting website, TheMammyBlog.ie.

The award is a public vote and Niamh is calling on the residents of Bray and Wicklow to get behind her and help her reach the final.

Set up in April of last year, following the birth of her baby boy Thomas in December 2016, TheMammayBlog.ie’s brand of honesty and humour has struck a chord with fellow mums around the country, who identify with her real life tales of daily life as a new mum.

Niamh began the blog after she struggled with post-natal depression and decided to write about it, both as a form of catharsis for herself and to help other new mums feeling the same way.

‘I’m absolutely thrilled to be nominated for the Maternity & Infant Awards. The blog has been a huge success. It’s helped not only myself deal with issues of post-natal depression, but it has also been a lifeline for hundreds of other mums who have felt the same way.

‘Up until my son arrived in December 2016, I’d never changed a nappy, made a bottle, put on a onesie or even held a baby for more than five minutes without it unleashing what I like to call the death roar,’ said Niamh.

‘I’d love if the people of Bray and Wicklow could get behind me and help me reach the final. Some of the other prestigious nominees have followings of over 60K on social media, so every vote really counts.’

To vote, visit maternityandinfant.ie until the end of August. People can vote once per day.

Last year, Niamh’s blog was shortlisted in the Irish Blog Awards for Best Parenting Blog, as well as the ‘Oscars’ of the web world, the Eir Spiders for Best in Blogging.
