Baltinglass revs up for a classic
EXPECT the sound of revving engines to reverberate around Baltinglass this Sunday, August 12, as the town plays host to the ninth annual Baltinglass Classic Run.
Enthusiasts are urged to dust off their old cars and polish them up for the event, which is organised by the West Wicklow and Vintage Vehicle Club and acts as a fundraiser for West Wicklow Day Care Centre and Solas Dunlavin special class.
There will be prizes for best car, best motorcycle, furthest travelled, best modern classic and plenty more.
There will also be additional prizes to celebrate the Ford Escort’s 50th anniversary and the 70th anniversary of the Land Rover and Morris Minor.
It costs €20 to enter and this includes a meal after the run, a free draw, goodie bags and a souvenir rally board.
Cars and motorcycles are asked to assemble in Baltinglass from 10 a.m. and registration takes place at 11 a.m. with the run getting under way at 2 p.m.
There will be a traders area in Fatima Hall selling all types of goods and there will also be stalls in Weaver’s Square.
Anyone wishing to make a donation toward the two charities can do so at Germaine’s Inisfáil between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
162 cars and motorcycles took part in last year’s event and the run has steadily grown in popularity down through the years.
