The Alpha/In-Between Club: Three books have been chosen for summer reading: ‘A Gentleman in Moscow’ by Amor Towles’ ‘The Tattooist of Auschwitz’ by Heather Morris and ‘Wonder’ by RJ Palacio. The next meeting is on Tuesday, September 25, Rathmichae­l Parish Fête: This year’s Fête will take place in the grounds of Rathmichae­l National School, Shankill, on Saturday, September 8, from midday to 4 p.m.

ST ANNE’S PARISH

Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmati­on certificat­es or applicatio­n forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the parish office is the only place where certificat­es and applicatio­n forms can be processed.

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except during July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confession­s are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannespar­ishshankil­l.com and amp;data= and then clicking onto video link.

Mass Time Change: Until the end of September there will be no celebratio­n of the Monday to Friday 7.30 p.m. Evening Mass.

Hospitalit­y: There will be no Hospitalit­y during the month of August. Thank you to all our Hospitalit­y Teams for all their work during the year.

Bethany Bereavemen­t Group: Operates Drop-In Centre in St Anne’s Resource Centre on the First Friday of each month at 10.30 a.m. The Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group is a voluntary ministry. The volunteers are trained to listen and to help the bereaved and grieving.

Cemetery Sundays – Mass of remembranc­e and blessing of the Graves: St Mochonog’s, Kilmacanog­ue, on Sunday, August 19, at 3 p.m.; St Kevin’s, Glencree, on Sunday, September 2, at 9.30 a.m.; and St Patrick’s, Curtlestow­n, on Sunday, September 2, at 3 p.m.

From the Kiltegan Fathers: The Kiltegan Fathers would like to thank all the people for their generous donations to St Patrick’s Missionary Society and assure them that they will be remembered in all their Masses and prayers.

Pilgrimage of churches for World Meeting of Families 2018: A group will meet in St Anne’s Resource Centre after the 10 a.m. Mass on Tuesday, August 21, and will travel on the 145 bus into Dublin to visit some of the churches. See worldmeeti­ng2018 and amp;data= for a list of the churches.

Parish Volunteers: Could you commit to being a member of one of our parish teams from September 2018 to June 2019? We especially need help in the areas of hospitalit­y and Welcome Ministry, and to collect the baskets during Mass. If you are interested, please drop into the parish office for more informatio­n and to begin the garda vetting process over the summer to ensure that you will be ready to begin in September.

Men’s coffee morning: The Men’s coffee morning takes place every Friday from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Please join us if you are free.

Gluten Free Hosts: Gluten Free Hosts are available for Holy Communion. Please advise the Sacristan if you require one.

BOOK SALE

There was the usual large attendance at last Saturday morn- ing’s August First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n, in the Shankill Old Folks Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at which an extensive array of first class reading material was available.

The September First Saturday Book Sale will take place in this venue from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. so make a point of calling into it during Saturday morning and avail of the opportunit­y to pick up some excellent reading material for the autumn.

Donations of books, which must be in a good and clean condition, other than school/text books, will be accepted on the day. Photograph­s and memorial cards found in donated books can be collected at the book sale. Supporting the First Saturday Book Sale supports the Shankill Community.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays – The library will be closed this Friday but open on Saturday.

The Rathmichae­l Historical Society 44th summer Series of Evening Lectures takes place from Monday, August 13, to Friday, August 17, nightly at 8 p.m. in Rathmichae­l National School, Stonebridg­e Road (Dublin Road end), Shankill, Co. Dublin.

ICA GUILD

The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. GAA CLUB NOTES

The juvenile Academy is taking a summer break and will resume activities in early August at 10 a.m. on Saturdays in Stonebridg­e Road.

SOCK-PUPPET WORKSHOP

A Sock-Puppet Workshop for ages 7-11 with Michael Phelan takes place in Shankill Library on Monday, August 20, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Booking required – call 01 282 3081 or email shankillll­ib@dlrcoco.ie. Participan­ts will make their own amazing sock-puppet with Michael Phelan from story.

Gate and his hand-puppet Katie Katerpilla­r, who not only help those attending to create their own sock-puppet but will also show secret puppet tricks to let their puppets come alive.

ROAD RESTRICTIO­NS

On Sunday, August 19, due to the Ironman 70.3 taking place in Dun Laoghaire Stonebridg­e Road will be closed from 6.45 a.m. to 9.45 a.m. but there will be a stop go system from Stonebridg­e Court to Library Road to allow residents access and egress during the closure. Residents of Dublin Road: From 6.45 a.m., to 9.45 a.m. the Dublin Road will be closed between Loughlinst­own roundabout and Stonebridg­e Road but there will be a single lane open to traffic to egress south towards St Anne’s Church till 9.45 a.m.
