Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

-

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will be screened at Whale Theatre on Saturday, August 25, at 8 p.m.

This is the next instalment in the Greystones Film Club’s series, and marks the imminent return to school for most of the movie’s fans.

Admission is €10 to include a free kids three-in-one snack box with a drink, sweets and some freshly popped popcorn.

The boy wizard who cast his magic over the entire world first stepped into our realm in 1997, when JK Rowling’s debut novel was published

By the time the book was made into a movie in 2001, Rowling’s creation was already one of the biggest cultural phenomenon of modern times.

In this first Potter outing, the boy wizard departs the Dursley household to enrol at Hogwarts along with best pals Ron and Hermione.

To celebrate Harry turning 21 this summer, the film club is screening the very first Potter outing on Saturday, just to ease the kids back into the idea of school. And how, if you know where to look, you can find magic there.

There will also be a prize for the best-dressed Hogwarts hero on the night.

This follows a great season of film from Whale, with movies including ‘Airplane’ outdoors at the Cove, and also an outdoor screening of ‘The Jungle Book’.
