BRIAN WINS WITH HIS ‘GARDEN OF EDEN’ OF EDEN’

-

ARTIST Brian Manning won the Signal Open ‘Best in Show’ award for his piece ‘ The Garden of Eden’. The official opening reception for the exhibition took place last Friday evening, with more than 110 pieces of work adorning the gallery walls. Brian was announced as winner and presented with €1,000.

The exhibition continues at the gallery on Albert Avenue until this Sunday, August 19.

This was the sixth ‘Signal Open’ at the gallery and the standard of submissions was exceptional once again.

Over the last 250 years ‘Open Submission’ exhibitions have become established as an essential element of arts infrastructure. They act as one of the most accessible routes for artists to have their work seen by the public

These exhibitions provide an opportunity for artists to come together as a community to show and sell their work and provide the public with an eclectic insight into what’s happening in the arts both locally and nationally.

A founding tenet of Signal Arts Centre is the belief that there is a huge amount of talent that goes unrecognised and that an opportunity should be there for all artists to exhibit their work. The Signal Open is just such an opportunity.

Best in Show judges included board member Emma Finucane and external judge Dominic Thorpe.
