ARCHAEOLOG­ICAL EXCAVATION

The Medieval Bray Project is looking for volunteers to come and join them between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. for an archaeolog­ical excavation of two trenches at Raheen na Chluig Medieval Church on Bray Head. Suitable for children under-12. MOUNT USHER GUIDED TOUR

People attending Mount Usher Gardens near Ashford today can avail of free guided tours of the gardens at 10.30 a. m. and 2 p. m. During these tours, they will learn how the ‘ Robinsonia­n’ - style garden has been organicall­y managed for over 38 years. Bray Cualann Historical Society will host a free talk at 11.30 a.m. in Ballywaltr­im Library, Boghall Road, looking at life in the town in the week of August 18 to August 26, 1943, and how the fourth year of the Emergency was impacting on day-to-day life in the town. UPDATE OF BRAY DIG

The Medieval Bray Project will present the preliminar­y results of the recent investigat­ions at Raheen na Chluig Church on Bray Head at 7 p.m. in Bray Library. The findings are based on last year’s excavation. GLENDALOUG­H EXCAVATION­S

Glendaloug­h Heritage Forum has organised a guided tour of the UCD School of Architectu­re excavation­s at Glendaloug­h. Guests can examine the trenches and artefacts and find out how archaeolog­ists figure out the stories beneath the soil. Participan­ts should meet at the round tower ahead of a 2 p.m. start. GRAVEYARD TOUR

Tour the historic graveyard at Glendaloug­h alongside members of the local heritage forum, who have surveyed and recorded the cemetery. Tour begins at 3 p.m.
