GLENMALURE WALK
At the Glenmalure Lodge, pick up an information leaflet detailing some of the history, culture and rich biodiversity of the valley of Glenmalure and enjoy a self-guided walk between 7 a.m. and 10.30 p.m. Organised by the Glenmalure Pure Mile/Adopt a Monument Committee, this event is suitable for under-12s and is partially wheelchair accessible.
MACREDDIN WALK
The residents of Macreddin Village have arranged this special, self-guided walk along the Macreddin Mile which tells the story of local landmarks, plants and wildlife, available from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Suitable for children and fully wheelchair accessible.
MONASTIC MAPPERY
Glendalough Heritage Forum presents this exhibition looking at the history of Glendalough in maps, from the 16th century up until the present. The exhibition is open in the Brockagh Resource Centre from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
MARITIME MUSEUM TOUR
Based at the Bridgewater Shopping Centre, the Arklow Maritime Museum is a treasure trove of shipbuilders’ models, photos and objects that shed light on the town’s deep, saltwater roots. Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., admission is €5 for adults or €10 for families.
BEE CRAFTS AND GAMES
Cool Planet Experience at Powerscourt will host bee-inspired fun and games in its secret garden. Open from noon to 3 p.m., these events are free to those who have taken the centre tour, entry for which is €9 for adults, €5 for children €25 for and families.
QUAKER HISTORY
The Ballymurrin Quaker Farmstead, dating from 1668, offers valuable insight into the Quakers and their 350-year history in Co Wicklow. Guests will enjoy tours of a number of farmsteads, a forge and hearth, the main house, ingle-nook with bread oven and the ‘parlour’ used for Quaker meetings. Tours take place from 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. and entry is €5 for adults or €10 for families.
ST SAVIOUR’S CHURCH
Built in 1899 for Lord Caryfort by Arthur Bloomfield, the Arklow Maritime and Marine Heritage Group invite people to come and look inside the wonderfully historic St Saviour’s Church in Arklow from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
SHARING STORIES
Come along to the National Botanic Gardens at Kilmacurragh at 3 p.m. to learn more about the plants and where they come from.
