€250,000mystery Lotto winner

August 2008

-

Mystery still surrounds the identity of the buyer from a service station in Ashford of a winning Lotto Plus ticket worth €250,000 in prize money.

It’s by far the largest lotto win ever in this part of County Wicklow and the rumour mill is in full swing as speculation mounts over the identity of the lucky winner.

The mystery winner purchased a €12 multi-draw last Wednesday from the Topaz Service Station in Ashford. The agent was Paul Synnott. The Manager of the service station, Sinéad Lane, didn’t know anything about the winning ticket until the National Lottery contacted her on Saturday with the good news.

‘It’s the first time we have ever been involved in a win like this, and it’s got to be the biggest win locally,’ she said.

‘ To be honest, we don’t know yet who we sold the ticket to and nobody has come forward. It would be great if it proved to be someone local who did win.’

Now the toughest decision the winner will face is whether to go public with the win or to try and hide their new-found wealth from neighbours and colleagues.
