-

THE PEOPLE of Greystones gathered for an ecumenical service of song last Saturday at St Crispin’s Cell, as part of the town’s Heritage Week celebrations.

A number of choirs took part in the musical celebration, including St Patrick’s Choir, Holy Rosary Choir, and Greystones Cancer Support’s Canadh le Cheile.

There were also performances by an uilleann pipe and whistle player and bodhran players.

The day also included a talk about the local heritage of the area by historians Colin Love and Brian White.

The children of the district were invited to take part in an art competition on the afternoon at the 16th century monument.

There was great attendance at the sunlit event. Guests brought their camping chairs to sit and relax and enjoy the wonderful singing and musicianship.

Heritage week continued last night in Greystones, with a visit to the Masonic Lodge on Hillside Road.

Also on Saturday, Geological Survey Ireland hosted a twohour geological guided walk along Greystones seafront.

This Thursday, August 23, and Saturday, August 25, there will be tours of the old burial ground in Delgany with historian Lailli De Buitlear, on both dates from 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
