Enterprise building is turned down over lack of information
A planning application for a business and enterprise building in Newtownmountkennedy which would have included a country market has been turned down by Wicklow County Council.
Harvieston Ltd lodged the application in September 2017 seeking permission for a business and enterprise building consisting of an indoor country market, own-door starter employment units, enterprise units, childcare facility, food hall and kitchen, food business development units, toilet facilities along with parking and set down areas, relocation of existing pumping station along with ancillary site development works and services at Mountkennedy Demesne.
Further information was requested by Wicklow County Council in October of last year and was received in July of this year.
In turning down the application, planners maintained that the development would be contrary to the zoning objective and overall vision for this action area which ‘is designated for comprehensive and high quality designed development’ and would result in the ‘creation of a standalone, haphazard and piecemeal development which would fail to integrate with existing and future developments on the site’.
Insufficient information was submitted to determine whether the development would be an acceptable use for the ‘employment’ zoning of the lands, whether the proposed development would integrate with the existing development and future planned development, the impact of the development on the surrounding area and residential properties, and the adequacy of roads, parking and water services infrastructure to serve the development.
