OPTIONS OPEN FOR STUDENTS

-

LANGUAGES, science and design were some of the subjects in which St Kilian’s students in Bray performed well in this year’s Leaving Certificate.

‘At St Kilian’s Community School, we were very happy with last Wednesday’s results,’ said principal John Murphy.

‘ There were many fine individual results, and particularly strong subjects included Modern Languages, Biology and Design and Communication Graphics. The Leaving Cert Applied class also performed extremely well, with four students achieving an Overall Distinction.’

He spoke about the many different options available to students as they finish their secondary school careers.

‘In recent years, while many students continue to follow the traditional university route, others are opting for colleges of further education and are pursuing apprenticeships across a wide-ranging number of disciplines,’ said Mr Murphy.

‘ These include accountancy and engineering technician, for which the school has established strong links with a number of prestigious companies.

‘I welcome this development and am delighted that students of all abilities and interests now have such a variety of worthwhile and challenging opportunities available to them. I would like to congratulate our students, as well as their teachers and families, and I wish them every success and happiness in the years ahead.’
