Fun served up at annual get-together

-

CLOSE to 200 people were in attendance at the President’s Barbecue held at Wicklow Rugby Club on Saturday night.

The weather stayed dry but guests still had the protection of a large marquee which was specially erected for the occasion and led into the clubhouse.

The Coffee Shop provided food and refreshments for the occasion, while a sumptuous pig on a spit proved a particular treat.

Rugby Club President Bert Nicholson greeted all and sundry and the barbecue has gradually become one of the biggest fundraisers organised by the club each year. A DJ played late into the night and ensured the dance floor was never empty.

Ann Morrissey, the main organiser of the event, said: ‘It was a great night and I would like to thank everyone for their support.

All sections of the club were present along with their families and now we look forward to next year’s big barbecue’.

Wicklow Rugby Club’s annual golf classic takes place at Wicklow Golf Club on Friday, August 24. You can support by entering a team, sponsoring a tee or green or sponsoring a prize.

It costs €210 to enter a team of three from 10.30 a.m. to noon and €270 for a team of three playing from noon to 4.30 p.m. The price includes a threecourse dinner with wine.
