PRIDE OF PLACE

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who worked so hard over the past few weeks to make sure our town looked well for Pride of Place.

The judges were here last Thursday and they received a 20 minute presentation that included video with local volunteers talking about the showcases areas, along with drone footage of Rathdrum. After this they visited the Market Square statue, The Famine Graveyard, Parnell Memorial Park, playground and gym.

The judging finished in Avondale House where they were able to meet more of our volunteers. Overall the feedback has been really positive and we hope that Rathdrum will be successful when the winners are announced on November 17.

THURSDAY WALKS

Twenty five walkers took to the slopes of Paddock Hill outside Laragh last Thursday night. Yet another dry night greeted us, how lucky we have been this summer, and the usual brief history was given on reaching the Gossan Stones.

With the evenings closing in rapidly we are sadly now reaching the end of another walking season. This week takes us to the Mottee Stone in Avoca. Meeting as usual in Parnell Memorial Park for 7 p.m. and walk start at 7.15.
