Vintage debut in Coolgreany

VINTAGE FANS from Wicklow and surroundin­g counties will flock to Coolgreany on Sunday, September 9, as the first ever vintage day takes place.

The village will welcome vintage enthusiast­s for the Coolgreany Vintage Day which will also include plenty of family fun and entertainm­ent.

A variety of fun children’s activities will be organised including a bouncy castle, swings, pet’s corner, bottle fishing, novelty stalls and bric-a-brac. Jumble stalls and vintage dress will also form part of the occasion and there will be no shortage of musical entertainm­ent thanks to Ferns singer Stacey Breen.

All exhibits and trade stands must be on the field by noon, and all vehicles must have their own insurance.

Committee members chairman: Dan Kennedy, vice-chairman: Seán Kealy, secretary: Geraldine O’Rafferty and treasurer: Alan Flood invite anyone who has an interest in vintage cars or tractors to join the club. Membership costs €25.

The show opens at 1 p.m. and runs throughout the afternoon.

FIONNUALA MCCORMACK KILOMARATH­ON.

The popular Fionnuala McCormack Kilomarath­on and 10k race returns to raise even more money for Wicklow Hospice Foundation. With the kilomarath­on almost 17 miles, it’s a great opportunit­y for someone to push themselves if they are trying to build up to a full marathon distance.

The race starts at the Beehive Bar at 9 a.m. Entry is open now online at itsplainsa­iling.com/club/ wicklowhos­pice and it costs €20 to enter the 10k or €30 to enter the kilomarath­on.

FAMILY 10K RUN/5K WALK

Grangecon AFC is hosting this fun, family 10k and 5k walk at 11 a.m. Registrati­on will be open from 10 a.m. at Grangecon Community Hall and the cost of entry is €10 for adults, €5 for children (under-16) and €25 for families. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times.

GLEN TO GLEN HOSPICE WALK

Enjoy a hike through some of the county’s most scenic countrysid­e from Glendaloug­h to Glenmalure in aid of Wicklow Hospice.

To ensure there is enough room on the bus bringing participan­ts to the start point, anyone interested in attending is asked to register as soon as possible with Sinéad at 087 0954137 or sinead@wicklowhos­pice.ie or Fabian at 087 2306030.

Alternativ­ely, register online at itsplainsa­iling.com/club/wicklowhos­pice/entry. After the walk, refreshmen­ts will be served at the Glenmalure Lodge.
