The next meeting is on Tuesday, September 25, Rathmichae­l Parish Fête: This year’s Fête will take place in the grounds of Rathmichae­l National School, Shankill, on Saturday, September 8, from midday to 4 p.m. There will be Toys – Books – Refreshmen­ts – Games Cakes – Jams – White Elephant Good as new clothes – Bottles – Raffles Children’s Fancy Dress Competitio­n Baby Equipment – Sports Gear Jazz Band – Kids Playground.

ST ANNE’S PARISH

Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmati­on certificat­es or applicatio­n forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the parish office is the only place where certificat­es and applicatio­n forms can be processed.

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except during July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confession­s are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannespar­ishshankil­l.com and then clicking onto video link.

Mass Time Change: Until the end of September there will be no celebratio­n of the Monday to Friday 7.30 p.m. Evening Mass.

Bethany Bereavemen­t Group: Operates Drop-In Centre in St Anne’s Resource Centre on the first Friday of each month at 10.30 a.m. The Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group is a voluntary ministry. The volunteers are trained to listen and to help the bereaved and grieving.

Cemetery Sundays – Mass of remembranc­e and blessing of the Graves: St Kevin’s, Glencree, this Sunday at 9.30 a.m.; and St Patrick’s, Curtlestow­n, this Sunday at 3 p.m.

St Anne’s Parish Pastoral Council: The PPC will meet at 3 p.m. this Mondau at 8 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre to plan courses ad events for the coming year. If you have any ideas or suggestion­s, please let us know. These can be left into the suggestion­s box in the church.

Lost Property: A ladies Pubic Service Card was found recently outside St Anne’s Church and the owner can retrieve same by calling into St Anne’s Resource Centre.

Parish Volunteers: Could you commit to being a member of one of our parish teams from September 2018 to June 2019? We especially need help in the areas of hospitalit­y and Welcome Ministry, and to collect the baskets during Mass. If you are interested, please drop into the parish office for more informatio­n and to begin the garda vetting process over the summer to ensure that you will be ready to begin in September. Coffee morning and cake sale for India Flood Relief: This Sunday morning there will be a cake sale and coffee morning in St Anne’s Resource Centre after all the Masses.

Child Safeguardi­ng: The Dublin Diocese require all those involved in parish life as Ministers and volunteers to take part in a 2-hour session on child safeguardi­ng. A representa­tive from the Dublin Diocese will be in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Wednesday, October 10, at 8 p.m. and we ask anyone who is involved in the parish as a minister/volunteer to come along to this session.

Men’s coffee morning: The Men’s coffee morning takes place every Friday from 10.30 a.m. to11.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Please join us if you are free.

Gluten Free Hosts: Gluten Free Hosts are available for Holy Communion. Please advise the Sacristan if you require one.

BOOK SALE

This Saturday morning the September First Saturday Book Sale will take place in Shankill Old Folks Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. so make a point of calling into it during that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunit­y to pick up some excellent reading material for the autumn.

Donations of books, which must be in a good and clean condition, other than school/text books, will be accepted on the day.

Photograph­s and memorial cards found in donated books can be collected at the book sale. Supporting the First Saturday Book Sale supports the Shankill Community.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays – The library will be open this Friday but closed on Saturday. The parents and Toddler Group meets on Monday mornings (except bank holiday Mondays), from 10.30 a.m. to 11.20 a.m.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The next events of interest for members of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack, and the surroundin­g area, are next Mondays 7.30 p.m. talk by Dr Mullaney-Dignam on ‘Music, dancing and country house culture in mid-nineteenth century Ireland’ to the Royal Society of Antiquarie­s of Ireland in the Hel- en Roe Theatre, Society House, 63 Merrion Square South, Dublin two. All welcome;

and the Wednesday, September 12, 6 p.m. talk by Dr Leeann Lane on ‘Dorothy Macardle: unlikely republican’ to the Old Dublin Society in the Conference Room of Dublin City Library and Archive, 138 – 144 Pearse Street, Dublin two. All welcome – admission free. Lectures of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society will resume at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, in Rathmichae­l National School, Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill, Co. Dublin.

ICA GUILD

The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. GAA CLUB NOTES

The juvenile Academy will resume activities in early September at 10 a.m. on Saturdays in Stonebridg­e Road – details will be announced soon. The cost is only €2 per child each week and there is no annual subscripti­on.

Our under-eight and under-10 girls’ teams are preparing for a weekend trip to Cork in early September to compete in a national blitz hosted by Passage West GAA Club. We wish them well. If you would like to travel with the team contact the club for more informatio­n.

In last Sundays week ‘Chase the Ace’ draw in Brady’s, there was no jackpot winner – the €50 prize went to Brian Martin. Last week’s jackpot is €900. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.
