All the regular classes are starting back in the Brockagh Resource Centre from September 4 to September 20. CAR BOOT SALES

Join fellow shoppers for car boot day on Sunday, September 2, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come early to find your bargains on practicall­y anything from household items to garden additions, and even vintage or antique treasures. Vans must be booked in. Please pre-book indoor spaces early. Contact the Brockagh Centre at 0404 45600 or email laraghit@eircom.net if you wish to book an indoor space or if you prefer to sell outside just show up at 8 a.m. on the morning.

BASKET WEAVING WORKSHOPS

In the full-day basket making workshop participan­ts will learn to make a traditiona­l willow basket. This workshop is relaxed and enjoyable with a focus on traditiona­l Irish basket-making techniques. Dates: Sundays September 9 and 16 and Saturday, September 13, is a full day basket making workshop.

Saturday the 20th and Sunday, October 21.,(two-day (improvers) Basket-making – Round shopper with handle (main project). Saturday, November 3, and Sunday, November 11, are full day basket making workshops.

PILATES TUTOR REQUIRED

The Brockagh Resource Centre has to say goodbye to Marie Noonan, an excellent Pilates Teacher. You will be missed but we wish you every success in your new ventures Marie. SCRAP METAL DAY IS BACK

It’s time to have a clear out again from your home or Farmyard for free on Saturday, September 22, from 9 p.m. to 4 p.m. To view the kind of scrap acceptable, go to Brockagh Resource Centre Facebook page or our website at brockaghre­sourcecent­re.ie/events-and-timetables/. DRAGON DAY WORKSHOP

Val Young is back at the Brockagh Centre, Laragh on Sunday, September 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Val is honoured to be invited back to to this special place.

The day involves three meditation­s, each feeling very different. Throughout the day you will also be making an essence that each of the participan­ts will take home. No previous experience is necessary – just the willingnes­s to go with the energies of the day.

COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT

The Brockagh Resource Centre wishes to recruit a part-time maintenanc­e person/car park attendant. FREE COMPUTER COURSE

A free five-week digital skills computer course will be starting in the autumn, two hours one day a week. Topics covered include online banking, apps, online government services, email, shopping online, photograph­s, podcasts, TV players, social media and much more. This course is for beginners or someone who is rarely online and wants to up skill. Call the Brockagh Resource Centre at 0404 45600 or email laraghit@eircom.net.

FITNESS DANCE

Adam’s HIFD class starts back on Wednesday, September 12, at the new time of 8 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre. Dance your socks off with Adam, a class in cardio exercise dancing, great for fun fitness and dropping those extra calories. You do not need to be a good dancer or very fit, dance at your own pace and enjoy the music. You can contact Adam at 083 3057949 for informatio­n.

EVENING YOGA

Viva’s yoga classes are back on Tuesday, September 4 – for beginners to intermedia­te at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre. Improve your fitness strength and flexibilit­y in a relaxing way. Wear comfortabl­e clothes on the night and bring a blanket. Mats are available on the night. You can contact Viva at 086 3409629 for more informatio­n.

WALKING GROUP

On Monday mornings weekly at 10 a.m. join the Laragh walking group at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around Glendaloug­h area for approximat­ely one hour.

CITIZEN’S INFORMATIO­N

The Citizens Informatio­n Centre at the Brockagh Resource Centre is open for informatio­n relating to your rights and entitlemen­ts from 10 a.m. till midday on the first and third Tuesday of each month. No appointmen­t is necessary for this free and confidenti­al service.

DEFIBRILLA­TOR TRAINING

Now that Laragh Community First Responder Group have a Public Access Defibrilla­tor installed at Willie McCoy’s shop, the group have been having informatio­n evenings over the past number of months.

A certified CFR training course will be held in the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Centre on September 15 at 10 a.m. for all who are interested in being a Public Responder.

A lot of people attended the informatio­n sessions and this training will certify anyone whose interested in making a difference to a person in need.

If you would like to attend the training please contact any of the Laragh Community First Responder Group or Sheila Kavanagh at 087 2121522 so that we can plan to have enough trainers there. Watch our Facebook page for any additional notes nearer to the date.

TIDY TOWNS

The evenings are getting shorter now so we will have one last chance at getting together on Wednesday, September 5, at 7 p.m. for all to help clean-up the area. It’s great to see all the helpers each month and even if the first Wednesday doesn’t suit – any time of day or evening will be great.

The judging for this year’s Tidy Towns competitio­n is still on-going so hopefully we will continue to score well due to the great efforts of everyone in keeping the area clean and maintained. The judging for the kerbside garden will be taking place soon so keep working. Watch Facebook page for further updates.
