Local GPs shortlisted for national award
TWO north Wicklow doctors have been shortlisted as category nominees in this year’s GPBuddy.ie National GP awards.
The winners will be announced by GP and television personality, Dr Pixie McKenna, at an awards ceremony in Dublin on Friday, September 21.
The aim of the scheme is to honour General Practitioners and healthcare professionals for displaying innovation and progress in the healthcare sector.
Dr Anna Foy and Dr Peter Kelly, will be among the nominees in attendance at the ceremony having been nominated in the ‘Establishing GP of the Year’ category for their Greystones Family Doctors practice.
They will be among 30 other healthcare professionals nomi- nated for awards.
The awards scheme is hosted by the online GP resource in Ireland, GPBuddy.ie, in association with Affidea - an independent provider of diagnostic imaging services. Now in its third year, nominations were received from all over the country for this year’s awards scheme which will be contested across 11 different categories.
Dr Shane McKeogh, of GPBuddy.ie, said the standard of nominations was ‘outstanding’.
In their category Dr Kelly and Dr Foy will be up against practices from Drogheda and Abbeyfeale. Their category is GPs who, in the early stages of their career, have demonstrated leadership and innovation in their practice.
