Open day in Glencree
THE Glencree Society, which hosts Fighting Words Wicklow workshops, is holding an open day on Sunday, September 16, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to come and see the recently upgraded and refurbished campsite and grounds at Aurora, which is located a few hundred metres past the Centre for Peace and Reconciliation. The facility includes a riverside classroom, amphitheatre, assault course and more.
Guests can chat about Fighting Words and other programmes and volunteering opportunities. Refreshments will be served at 4 p.m.
Fighting Words, the charity founded by Roddy Doyle and Sean Love, provides free tutoring and mentoring in creative writing and related arts to children, young adults and adults with special needs. Programmes and workshops are delivered mainly by volunteer writing tutors. Aurora is owned and run by the Glencree Society, a voluntary, non-profit making organisation and a registered charity.
