NEW SCHOOL YEAR

The start of a new school year and the management of Arklow CBS would like to extend a warm welcome to all new and existing staff members and students and to wish them every success in the coming academic year.

LIAISON STUDENTS

Arklow CBS runs a Liasion student initiative; here senior students of the school attend training during their summer holidays and learn how to be a link person and point of contact and support for new first year students. This year’s Liaison students are Aaron Bermingham, Oisin Byrne, Oisin Kelly, Kyle Manning, Seán Byrne, Jack O’Reilly, Tom Kelly, Joe Donohue, Ian Wright and Michael Swiergocki. Arklow CBS would like to thank them for their commitment to the position as their help and support with first year students is invaluable.

TY INDUCTION DAY

Tuesday last saw our transition year students head to Well’s House in Wexford for their induction day. This induction day is a traditional one in our TY calendar and provides an opportunity for all our TY students to get to know each other in a fun and relaxed environment. The students thoroughly enjoyed their action packed day of archery in the woods. Thanks to Ms Merrigan, Mr O’Gorman and Pauline for accompanying the boys.

TRANSITION YEAR AHEAD

Once again our transition year students are in for an extremely full and diverse year of trips, activities and programmes. Next week will see them participate in a special effects make up course where they are sure to pick up some tips for Halloween. Soon after it’s on to Baltinglass for an overnight adventure and then to driving school. These are but a few of the exciting things planned for them for the year ahead.

GAELIC FOOTBALL TRAINING

Gaelic football training resumes in Pearse Park on Tuesday afternoon at 3.30 for our first year students and at 4.00 for our second year students. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in our extra-curricular activities.

RUGBY TRAINING

Rugby training resumes in school for our first year students on Monday afternoon at 3.15 for our first year students and at 4.00 for our second year students. Once again students are strongly encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities as they are a great way to keep fit and to get to know other students in their year.

JUNIOR CERT RESULTS

Junior Certificate results are imminent and as always the students expecting their results will be treated to a day away from school to take their minds off their impending results. Students will be taken to Glendalough for the day and will return to school in the afternoon to receive their results.

ANNUAL SCHOOL MASS

Our school Mass takes place in St Mary’s and Peter’s Church on Tuesday, October 2, at midday All parents and guardians of current and past students are invited to attend.

The management, staff and students of Arklow CBS would like to extend their sincerest sympathies to Edel Morrisey our canteen manager on the recent death of her mother.
