Man charged with possession

A homeless man of no fixed abode appeared before Bray District Court charged with possession of drugs.

Garda Ryan O’Neill saw Andrix Ekis acting suspiciously along Bray Main Street on February 3. He followed Mr Ekis and recovered €160 worth of heroin after searching him.

Defence solicitor Joseph Maguire said his client was 36 years of age and originally from Latvia. He had initially come to Ireland to work but had been left unemployed when that job finished. He was currently homeless and had been addicted to heroin for two-and-a-half years. However, he had recently started to engage with services to try and tackle his problem.

Judge David Kennedy adjourned proceedings until November 22 for the preparation of a probation report.
