HOLLY AND LYNN IN FARMLEIGH SHOW

-

TWO Wicklow artists feature at a large national group art exhibition taking place at Farmleigh House in Phoenix Park.

Holly Somerville of Stratford on Slaney, Baltinglass, is showing two paintings, while Lynn Stringer of Kilcoole is also exhibiting.

The event is being hosted by the Water Colour Society of Ireland and represents their 164th exhibition. It is being sponsored by the OPW and will remain open to the public until Sunday, September 30.

Holly Somerville is an artist and designer working in a restored millhouse in the Wicklow mountains. Trained at Oxford University and Edinburgh College of Art, she paints highly detailed watercolours using botanical subjects and other found items from her garden.

Also taking part in the exhibition is Lynn Stringer who graduated from DIT College of Marketing and Design with a first in Fine Art. She has specialised in Botanical Art since 2005.

This annual exhibition, the largest watercolours event and one of the biggest national group art shows in Ireland, has been held for many years in south county Dublin at the former Concourse Gallery at Dun Laoghaire County Hall.

The Water Colour Society is moving to Farmleigh House, which reflects the long and prestigious tradition enjoyed also by the Society.

More than 200 paintings in watercolour, gouache and pastels, plus drawings and limited edition signed prints, will be on sale to the public. Prices are largely around €350 to €850, although there are works at prices outside that range.
