CLASS OF 2018 REWARDED
THE Class of 2018 gathered at St David’s Secondary School in Greystones one last time on September 4 for the annual Leaving Certificate Awards Ceremony.
The awards recognise outstanding academic achievement in the Leaving Cert exams and Any student who received a H1 or H2 grade received an award.
Principal Mary O’Doherty opened the ceremony and congratulated both students and parents on the fantastic results that had been achieved. She was followed by Deputy Principal Simon Carey, who read through the list of 51 individual award winners.
Each student received their award from either the head boy or head girl, along with Ms O’Doherty.
After the individual awards were presented, the focus shifted towards the best in class prizes.
In Ms Ní Mhaoilchiaráin’s class 6.14, Aoife Rainey achieved the overall best results, while in Mr Ó Muirgheasa’s 6.18, Katie Byrne was the top performer. In Mr Ó Donnchadha’s class 6.26, Cian Gaines was awarded best in class and finally, in Ms Carmody’s class group 6.38, the best in class prize was won by Doireann Brosnan.
The final award of the evening, the Paul Ellis Cup is awarded to the student who achieved the best overall Leaving Certificate, was presented to Aoife Rainey.
