JUNIOR CERT RESULTS

Well done to our TYs who got their Junior Cycle results on Wednesday last. They have worked really hard and managed to achieve really well across the board, with bigger numbers than ever receiving Higher Level honours grades. Their results in the bag, they headed off up Djouce on Thursday to spend a little time with nature – and each other. – out of the classroom.

TEAM HOPE YSI PROJECT

This year the TY Young Social Innovator Class are looking to break the record for the amount of shoeboxes that we have ever put forward. You all know Team Hope as the people who come in asking you to make Christmas shoeboxes for children in the developing world.

Last year, in total our school managed to bring in over 200 shoeboxes and this year we hope to beat that record by getting one box from each person in the school. We are also looking for empty shoeboxes and shoebox fillers. We also want to run two fundraisers such as a Non-Uniform Day and a Bake Sale. We really appreciate any help you can give us. LEGO CLUB

EGS Lego Club is looking for donations of Lego. If you have any Lego you would like to donate, please leave it at school office. Thank you and much appreciated.

TRANSITION YEAR NEWS

A momentous week for our TY’s has seen them collecting their junior cert results and embarking on a fantastic hill walk to celebrate in style.

After the excitement of Wednesday afternoon which saw wide smiles, hugs and tears (happy ones) a plenty, Thursday morning could have been a bit of an anticlimax. That is if it wasn’t for the wonderful Wicklow Mountains.

Our group of 60 students set out from the Pier Gates up behind Djouce mountain and set of up the board walk to the summit.

Wind a plenty, some sunshine, a little rain and plenty of enthusiasm ensued.

The day saw lost phones found, rivers swam in, lunch demolished and memories made. It is a testament to our students that some 12km later they were still smiling (mostly) as they got back onto the bus. It really was a great experience and one that will live long in the memories and on the feet (blisters) of our students.

They now look forward to the National Ploughing Match on Thursday. It really never stops.
