Ashford Honey Festival

THE Second Ashford Honey Festival takes place at Ashford Community and Heritage Centre on Saturday, September 22.

A full programme of events is lined up for the occasion and the festival will also include honey tasting, local honey, face painting, a raffle, observatio­n hives, bee friendly plants, refreshmen­ts and cakes. Admission is free.

The doors open at 11 a.m. and Minister of State, Andrew Doyle TD will officially open the festival at 1.30 p.m.

Phillip McCabe, of Apimondia, the Internatio­nal Federation of Beekeepers’ Associatio­ns, will deliver a talk at 2 p.m.. There will also be a storytelli­ng for children session.

At 2.45 p.m. there will be a children’s art competitio­n. James Hanley of the RHA will announce the winners and deliver the prizes.

A raffle takes place at 3.15 p.m. and the prizes will be presented by Wicklow Rose 2018 Lorna Mallick.

The festival will draw to a close at 4 p.m.
