New Youth Group: We are working hard in the parish to set up a new youth group for those aged 13 to 18.We met with 26 young people over the summer and they told us they would like to meet fortnightly in St Anne’s Resource Centre, so we have chosen the first and third Saturdays after Evening Mass. They are very interested in learning more about their Catholic Faith. They would like a mixture of games, talks, music, prayer time, movies and socials. A group of youth leaders will prepare and deliver each meeting. In order to launch the group, we need to have everything in place to ensure their safety. We are now seeking teams of adult supervisors and we ask for people to commit to one Saturday evening per month. We would require at least four adult supervisors each time the youth group meet. The role of the adult supervisor will be to open/close the centre, kitchen supervision and to make sure the youth (not the adults) leave the centre clean and prepared for Sunday School. Also, they will have to make sure each young person has someone to collect them. Training will be given to this group before the first youth meeting takes place. There will be an information session in the parish on Wednesday, October 10, at 8 p.m. and the youth group supervisors will be expected to attend this session.
