10 All I Really Want To Do Cher Hard to imagine now, but when ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ was first released in the UK it was played only on pirate radio stations as lyrics referring to sexual frustration were considered too suggestive. The line ‘trying to make some girl’ was a particular target and it was censored when the Stones performed the song on US television show ‘Shindig!’ in 1965. Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, ‘Satisfaction’ was a huge hit for the Stones, giving them their first US number one and their fourth chart topper in the UK. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine named it the second-greatest song of all time – behind Bob Dylan’s ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ which also appears in this top ten at No. 4, the Dylan classic’s highest chart placing in the UK.
