Injured teen Tara’s family grateful for support

- By MARY FOGARTY

THE FAMILY of local teenager Tara Houlihan, who was seriously injured in a horrific accident, have thanked the community for their support as Tara’s long journey to recovery continues.

Tara’s parents Greg and Theresa have released the statement through Cllr Tom Fortune, thanking the people of Kilcoole.

‘We are very grateful for the continual support and good wishes from the community,’ said the family, who reside at Beechdale.

‘ Tara has been released home under our care while we wait for a place in the National Rehabilitation Hospital and for further procedures.

‘As can be appreciated, this has and is taking a huge toll on us as a family and while Tara continues to recover, the journey is uncertain and our new normality is still unknown. Sincere thanks from the Houlihan family.’

Back in April, Tara (17) was involved in a collision in Kilcoole village which left her in critical condition.

The crash occurred in the early hours of Saturday, April 14, on Kilcoole Main Street, close to Lee’s Pub.

Tara was found some time later by a passer-by and rushed to hospital.

Locals have offered to help in any way they can, including sitting with the young woman if her family need any time.
