Man charged with indecent assault

A man appeared before Bray District Court last Thursday, charged with four counts of indecent assault alleged to have occurred in the 1980s.

Joseph Keegan (76), 8 Somerville Court, Crumlin, appeared in court after a warrant had been issued for his arrest on a previous date. He was arrested last Thursday morning at the courthouse in Bray.

He is accused of four counts of indecent assault, alleged to have occurred between January 1, 1984, and July 31, 1984, at St Fergal’s Hall, Boghall Road, Bray, St Fergal’s Bell Tower, Bray, St Fergal’s Parochial House, Bray, and the Franciscan office, Merchant’s Quay.

Keegan remained at the back of the court as he uses a walking frame. There was no objection to bail. Bond papers were brought to the back of the courtroom for him to sign prior to his release.

The matter was adjourned to Bray District Court on November 5.
