Wicklowsup­pliersjoin Kick-Startprogr­amme

TWO Wicklow food suppliers have been selected to showcase their products as part of the Lidl supplier developmen­t programme Kick Start.

Run by Lidl Ireland and supported by Bord Bia, is designed to help small and medium Irish food and drink businesses to grow their brand and build their supply network.

Sussed Nutrition based in Hawkstown Lower and Vada Pow, Bray are among 60 suppliers chosen from across the country and their products will be sold in all 195 stores across Ireland and Northern Ireland for a limited edition ‘Best of Ireland’ food promotion which started on Sunday.

Vada Pow was created by Naveen, a graduate of the Shannon School of Hotel Management with extensive experience in the catering industry, Vada Pow offers Bombay-style street food products, made from nutrient-rich ingredient­s and Irish-grown potatoes. They are also wheat-free, dairy-free, and vegan, which means, that almost anyone can enjoy an authentic Indian taste, loaded with fresh herbs and ground spices.

Vada Pow’s spiced potato cakes and sweet potato burgers, are priced at €3.49 each.

Sussed Nutrition Ltd, with their healthy Rapeseed Oil Spray, priced at €3.39, is another Wicklow supplier selected for the programme.

All suppliers that were selected to be part of the Lidl Kick Start Supplier Developmen­t Programme have attended a series of free, comprehens­ive seminars which has guided them through the process and taught them skills to help grow their business ahead of their products going on sale at Lidl.

The seminars were carried out by panel of industry experts from Lidl Ireland and included topics around quality control, packaging, marketing and PR and brand building.
