Martello production­s present one-act evening

SHANKILL drama group Martello production­s are set to embark on the All-Ireland one-act competitio­ns and will perform at six festivals around Ireland in the hope of getting to the All-Ireland finals in Kilmuckrid­ge, County Wexford.

Before they do, they will give local audiences a chance to see ‘Notes on Falling Leaves’ by Ayub Khan-Din, on Friday, October 12, at the Burton Hall, Rathmichae­l Parish NS.

The group will present a night of one act plays. Along with their own production, they have invited Modelbox Theatre to perform their entry to the competitio­n, ‘A Frank Exchange’ by Nicholas Marsh.

‘Notes on Falling Leaves’ is a beautifull­y written piece about a son coming to terms with his mother’s early onset dementia. It is directed by Orla Malone and stars Colm Kearns and Deirdre Malone.

‘A Frank Exchange’ is set during the Second World War. It deals with the dilemmas facing secretary Helena Classen, working for the Nazis, under pressure to pass on informatio­n from friends in the Resistance. It is directed by Kevin Duignan.
