Rathnew to get 67 social houses

COUNCILLORS passed a Part 8 of the Planning and Development Act to pave the way for 67 social houses in Rathnew.

Director of Services, Joe Lane, said the issue had already been discussed at Wicklow Municipal District level and had been agreed upon by all the relevant District Councillors.

Cllr John Snell proposed the Part 8, seconded by Cllr Daire Nolan.

The planned accommodation will consist of 46 two-bed houses and 21 three-bed houses, all of which will be two storey.

28 elected members voted in favour and none voted against. Four weren’t present in the chamber for the vote.

The matter was then agreed.
