Drainage works done around the district

-

A number of drainage works are either under way or complete in the district, members learned at last week’s meeting.

District Engineer Ruarí O’Hanlon said that standing water on the northbound side of the R761 Kilcoole Road on Three Trout Bridge had been resolved by installing drainage inlet kerbs.

Standing water on the Charlesland Dual Carriageway, west-bound after Shoreline Pedestrian Crossing, has been resolved by connecting an existing gully to the drainage system (not previously connected by the developer).

A similar issue at the corner of Burnaby Road and Witshed Road was caused by a gas main breaking connection from the gully to the drainage system. Gas Networks will carry out reparis.

Standing water on the R761 Kilcoole road northbound at the Knockroe Rounadabout was caused by a break in connection from gully to drainage system by ESB works. A connection is to be made.

An overflowing gully on the R761 Greystones Road, at the entrance to Redford Park, is causing excess water to flow on the road in Redford Park towards houses. The issue was caused by a break in the storm drain to the river and too small a pipe used as a repair. The resolution is to excavate the small pipe and install 50m of larger pipe. The engineer said that the appears to have been caused by the sewerage connection from the new Blacklion School campus.

Works to stabilise the river bank on the downstream side of Beachdale in Kilcoole are complete. Old blockwork walls were removed and replaced with stone boulders. Fencing works there are still outstanding.
