Consultation for Delgany accessibility scheme begins

-

A PUBLIC consultation process for the proposed Delgany Village Accessibility Scheme is under way.

Members heard at last Tuesday’s meeting that the proposed scheme is intended to improve pedestrian accessibility and safety.

Submissions can be made up to noon on Monday, November 12, to Transportation, Water and Emergency Services, Wicklow County Council, County Buildings, Wicklow town.

Members welcomed progress on the scheme, which they said was a long time coming.

An information evening will take place in the Horse & Hound on Tuesday, October 16, at 7.30 p.m. The evening will be attend- ed by members of the council as well as consultants who will address any questions.

The council’s plan is to leave out the ‘main street’ currently for a number of reasons but mainly to reduce possible complication with the proposal so as to expedite the process. It will allow time for a more detailed look at the village centre to come up with a better holistic urban design solution for the village rather than simply a traffic solution.
