UNDER 16 BASKETBALL

CCA under-16s Basketball team played North Wicklow Educate Together in CCA on Wednesday, September 26, in the League Cup.

Coach Mr Craven said that the CCA team played very well, with very little separating the sides. They were unlucky to finally lose the game by two points with the final score 14-12. Mr Craven especially complement­ed both teams for a very sporting performanc­e.

Some of the stand out players for CCA included Lukas Geciauskas-Devignat, Ben O’Neill and Seán Brady.

The CCA team consisted of Seán Lundy, Jeremiah Scott, Ryan Hayden, Seán Brady, Charlie Frawley, Luke Frawley, Charlie Traynor, Lukas Geciauskas-Devignat, Ben O’Neill and Ben Ryan Michael Byrne.

EUROPEAN LANGUAGE WEEK

European Language took place from Tuesday the 15th-Friday the 28th in CCA with a number of activities taking place throughout the week highlighti­ng the importance of practising and improving our competency in another language. Some of the activities included a Teachers’ Quizzes, a first year quiz and lessons in sign language. Thanks to the Modern Foreign Language for organising this engaging event.

MUSICAL CALLBACKS

Musical callbacks for this year’s CCA Musical took place last week and will continue again this week as the musical directors begin to finalise the cast and leads for this year’s production. Best of luck to everyone who auditioned for the show this year.

121 DIGITAL

TY students Emma Kearns, Nicole Dutton, Ruth Ireland, Aisling Pistoor, Casey Finnerty, Stephen Doran, Adam Poveda and Tia Molloy are all taking part in Coláiste Chraobh Abhann’s 121 Digital course.

This is a free six-week course for beginners and improvers offering a one to one tuition for their smartphone, tablet and laptop usage. Participan­ts may choose their area of support and learn at their own pace. Lessons take place each Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in the school. THIRD YEAR PTS MEETING

The third year Parent/Teacher/ Student meetings will take place on Thursday, October 11, from 4.15 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. We look forward to discussing your child’s progress with us to date and answering any questions you may have as they face into their Junior Certificat­e State Exam. Classes will end at 3.40 p.m. on this day.

ATHLETICS

Coláiste Chraobh Abhann Students Lewi Stokes, Chase Scully, Daragh Heffernan, Charlotte Pelz. Ella-Louise Conway-Mackay, Charlotte Nagle, Eve Lacey, Stevie Stokes and Oisín Cullen all took part in the Leinster Schools’ Indoor combined Athletics Championsh­ips in the Sport National Indoor Arena in Blanchards­town on Thursday, September 27.

This multi-event championsh­ips consisted of a gruelling five event competitio­n in one day, including the 60m hurdles, long jump, shot putt, 800m and a 200m for the boys and a high jump competitio­n for the girls.

The results of this event will be announced next week. Well done to the CCA team involved and thanks to Mr Steele for training the team.
